Overview
DeWayne McBride is a one-dimensional running back that can come into a teams running back rotation and be an effective between the tackles power runner in the NFL. His frame, toughness, and running style would fit perfectly with a team looking for a change of pace back to do the grunt work lighter and faster backs can't do. However, his lack of usage in the passing game as well as pass protection is concerning for his career trajectory as 2-down backs are a dime a dozen in the NFL and often are simply replaced rather than resigned. His lack of usage doesn't mean he can't perform these duties in the NFL so teams that bring him into a workout should spend some time taking a look at if he can catch and block. Will he be versatile dynamo on an offense but he can be a more than competent running back in the NFL, especially when tough yardage is needed.
