Overview
Hendon Hooker is an interesting quarterback prospect whose cons are more having to do with his circumstances rather than play on the field which was spectacular. His age is concerning as teams are going want a quarterback prospect to to be younger so they can coach him but by the time he learns an NFL style offense, he'll likely be entering the prime years for most quarterbacks younger than him. His knee injury is scary as well as part of his success came from his ability to make plays with his feet and you have to wonder how much athleticism he'll have once he heals up. His offense and scripted plays are also an unwelcome sight for scouts looking for a quarterback that can take command of an offense and make decisions on the fly at some point in his career. However, his saving grace to his game is his throwing ability and arm talent combined with clearly practiced and polished throwing ability which is very highly regarded by NFL coaching staffs because teaching a player the play book and offense is meaningless if they have to teach them how to properly throw the football. All in all, Hendon Hooker is at the very least a very capable back in the league who can learn and study behind a starting quarterback and eventually get his shot as most quarterbacks do. I wouldn't throw him into the fires of the professional grid iron as a rookie by choice but depending on his ability to read and understand concepts, maybe a team can uncork potential that's hiding beneath.
