The Houston Texans Offseason
The Good: Signing Desmond King to 1yr/3 million
The worst offseason of 2021 by far belongs to the Houston Texans but even they have a silver lining signing this offseason. Desmond King II has been a good cornerback in his career and it was a bit surprising to see him sign with the Texans for a small 1yr/3 million prove it deal. He's an instant upgrade at the slot corner position for the Texans and could earn himself a great deal in 2022 with a productive season in Houston.
The Bad: Letting go of J.J.. Watt
The release of J.J. Watt was a tough loss for Texans Nation as he was the only star on the roster for longtime and put the team on his back to make them a potential contender quite a few times. J.J. Watt goes to a fast rising Cardinals team and the Texans are left with a huge void in the middle of their defense and they lack the draft capital or cap room to find a man to replace him and probably won't find a player with his level of talent ever again.
The Ugly: The entire Deshaun Watson Drama Saga
The Texans inability to appease their super star quarterback has been a well documented fiasco that the NFL world has been enthralled with. Everything from his disdain for the Texans not even interviewing Kansas City offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, a coach that Watson absolutely loved, to making it public that they weren't willing to trade him. Watson is in the middle of a huge, huge, huge legal battle currently which has everyone in the sports world absolutely glued to the television anytime Watson is on for the wrong reasons. The Texans have the makings of a dumpster fire for the next decade and are going to be hard not to laugh at if they can't make things right with Watson.

Day 1 Grade: N/A
Selection: N/AThe Houston Texans are the hottest dumpster fire in the NFL currently and their 2021 NFL draft is proof that they have a very long way to go before they sniff success again. They didn't have a 1st round pick due to the Laremy Tunsil trade which gave the Miami Dolphins the #3 overall pick, a litany of others as well, in a draft that featured tremendous talent across the board.
Day 2 Grade: D
Selections: Davis Mills, Nico CollinsThe Houston Texans were absent a 2nd round pick in Day 2 of the draft which still belonged to Miami so the Texans went and drafted Davis Mills and Nico Collins in the 3rd round. Mills was a major reach to me even though his stock was rising among many in the NFL. He only played in 5 games last season and didn't start the season before which leaves me perplexed how the Texans thought they could deem him worthy of a draft pick at quarterback with so little tape. Nico Collins is a huge and athletic receiver with loads of potential as a red zone threat but some character concerns and very raw skill set dropped him some in the draft but lucky for him the Texans are lacking receiver talent currently and he shouldn't have to wait long to be getting starting reps.

Selections: Brevin Jordan, Garret Wallow, Roy Lopez
The Texans one redeeming pick in the draft was certainly Brevin Jordan out of Miami. Brevin Jordan fills a major need for them at tight end and he's an absolute steal for them in the 5th round. Jordan's a tremendous playmaking tight end with great athleticism and reliable hands and will be a week 1 starter for them. Garret Wallow is a very athletic linebacker with a nose for the football and has starter potential for Houston potentially in his rookie year if he develops quickly enough. Roy Lopez is added depth to the defensive line of the Texans but have to fight for a roster spot in training camp otherwise he'll be a decent special teams player.
